About Wise Resource Development

Your nonprofit’s cause is vital to the community. But do you lack the in-house development expertise to support your cause? We’ve been in your shoes, and we understand your pain points. Tawnia Wise, after two successful decades fundraising in the trenches, founded Wise Resource Development to ease the burden of resource development for worthy causes.

Since 2014, our team of seasoned professionals has helped 134+ nonprofits bring in over $51 million from 199 funders. We act as an extension of your team, leveraging our understanding of funders, our expertise in strategic fundraising and our experience in related areas like program evaluation and development, research and marketing. In addition to helping you with grant writing, campaigns and special events, we also offer recruiting and professional development services, so you can get the right team in place or help your current team up their game.

Our fundraising approach is holistic. We believe relationships should be stewarded, not solicited; that campaigns should be intentional, not reactive.

Can we offer you a free consultation to understand your needs?

The WISE Team

Tawnia Wise, CFRE, Founder and CEO

Tawnia Wise is the founder and CEO of WISE Resource Development (WISE), a nonprofit consulting firm based in Dallas, Texas. Her dream of a career in social justice began as a reaction to growing up as a resident of Section 8 housing and recipient of public benefits in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. After spending nearly two decades helping nonprofits secure the resources needed to live out their missions, she wanted to deepen her commitment and passion by transforming nonprofits into more effective social justice agents.

In 2014, Tawnia launched WISE and quickly became one of the most sought-after consultants in Dallas. Known as someone who could marry strategy with tactical support for tangible fundraising results, Tawnia began expanding WISE and creating a firm of talented and cause-focused consultants to meet the demand for services. Today, her firm is hired by funders to build capacity for start-up organizations, by large nonprofits to supplement and support their in-house talent and by nonprofits of all sizes to forge a dedicated partnership with a consultant who understands how to leverage their assets and strengths for fundraising success.

Tawnia’s debut book, Become a Nonprofit Pro: 9 Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them, encompasses the most frequent advice and insights she gives to her clients who are looking to level up their organization’s impact. Tawnia is part of a movement to transform “sage from the stage” nonprofit consulting. By meeting organizations where they are with tactical support and strategic guidance, WISE helps them develop greater levels of efficiency and effectiveness.

 WISE Corporate Social Impact Commitment

WISE is a mission-driven, woman-owned and -led company. We believe that every person is created with inherent worth and value. It is our responsibility to acknowledge that we are the beneficiaries of society’s deeply embedded systems that were purposely designed to disenfranchise others. We are committed to using that privilege to affect reparations, influence societal equity and engage with social impact work in which we can:

·        support and work with organizations that operate from a place of solidarity to liberate oppressed, exploited and disempowered populations

·        design programs that equip and empower individuals and communities to self-actualize change

·        pursue and retain clients whose board and staff leadership reflect the people they serve and employ the influence of those they serve in program design and implementation

·        seek to dismantle systems that were designed to disenfranchise and oppress people of the global majority

·        advocate that equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the U.S. or any state on account of sex (Equal Rights Amendment)

·        support the inherent rights of bodily autonomy and privacy

·        reframe the conversation about mental health, rejecting the stigma and criminalization of mental illness

·        advocate for inclusion and equal access to services and spaces for individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual differences

·        reject outdated gender roles and respect all expressions of gender identity

·        support the Equality Act and expect inclusivity of the LGBTQIA+ community

·        embrace religious diversity and support both faith-based and secular organizations that practice faith-based principles of love, compassion and service

·        advocate for fair and equitable pay across the service and nonprofit sectors

·        reflect and be accountable to our social justice and impact goals through our hiring, professional development and leadership practices

·        challenge ourselves and our clients to intentionally examine, learn, and evolve in the way we engage with and support social impact work
