Those working in the nonprofit sector are often reluctant to impose upon others by asking them to give of their time, treasure, and talent. Here’s the thing: providing people with the opportunity to make an informed decision for themselves is not an imposition. Truth is, people want to give, and the number one reason they don’t is because they weren’t asked. This imposition mindset is unfortunately firmly entrenched in the nonprofit sector, and it requires a shift from “How are we ever going to find someone to do this?” to “Our mission is valuable, and we need to recruit people who are committed to it.”
